Paul GAUCHET - Mini Transat 2021

What is Mini-Transat?

This is a 4,050 nautical mile solo race, on the smallest offshore racing boats (only 6.50 m long), which takes place in two stages:

  • The first stage, starting in La Rochelle, takes the competitors to Las Palmas, in the Canary Island archipelago. 1,350 miles long and lasting around 7 days, this will be the first large offshore race for some of its competitors.
  • The second stage, 2,700 miles long, will last approximately two weeks, for the fastest competitors. This stage starts in Las Palmas in early November. After negotiating their way out of the Canary Island archipelago, hindered by the vast landscape of the numerous islands, the competitors should soon reach the trade winds, taking them to their final destination of Le Marin in Martinique.

Where does Zolux come into this?

Mini-Transat is an adventure in which competitors need to go push themselves beyond their limits, in solidarity and a team spirit. These values resonate with Zolux, which is why we have decided to sponsor Paul Gauchet for the 2021 Mini-Transat. Paul has dreamt of being placed in the Mini-Transat since his childhood.

This 17-year old sailor from Rochefort has already started training for this transatlantic race, with the support of Zolux. Paul will have to face the elements each day with his team, in order to reach his goal, just like at Zolux, where we surpass ourselves daily to design and market products best tailored to your needs. And although we go faster alone, but further together, Paul will be accompanied by his mascot, Hector the Beaver!

Who is Hector?

Hector is the mascot chosen by Paul Gauchet for his transatlantic race! This plush dog toy designed by Zolux has been customised by the sailor to match his boat, number 616!
